ALTA Health + Performance was founded by Dr. Alexandra Andersson in order to bring something she felt was missing from yet definitely needed by the very active and outdoorsy community of the Central Coast : a non-traditional, mobility-based style of chiropractic.

This style goes beyond the more traditional chiropractic routine of heat, stim, and series of adjustments. It’s centered around a unique experience that emphasizes true mobility - which is so much more than adjustments, stretching and foam rolling. True mobility looks at the body joint-by-joint and determines if there is not only an adequate range of motion at the joint but also an adequate level of control over the joint. A deficit in either or both of these things puts you at risk for pain and/or injury. However, identifying these deficits before they become a problem will not only keep you doing the things you love to do, but help you create a body that can do those things even better than you did before, often with less effort, and over a lifetime.

One of Dr. Alexandra’s main practice principles is that ‘we don’t become less mobile because we get older; we become “old” and less mobile because at some point we stopped moving the way we used to’.

Movement is the key to longevity. And teaching you how to move better requires more than a chiropractic adjustment. It requires a preventive (or rehab) performance plan tailored to the deficits of your specific case.

At ALTA Health + Performance, you can truly learn how to become the best possible caretaker of your body - so you can rely on us less and count on your body more!

Dr. Alexandra’s objective with bringing ALTA to the greater San Luis Obispo community is to get you back out in the world stronger, smarter, faster and better than before. And to provide a team that will educate you every step of the way so that you can gain the confidence and tools needed to put yourself back in the driver seat of your own health and wellbeing. And so you can optimize and bulletproof your health + athletic performance!

Dr. Alexandra Andersson

Hello! My name is Dr. Alexandra. I am an ambassador for Specialized Bicycles, a Functional Mobility Specialist and a Non-Traditional Doctor of Chiropractic + Human Movement. I am driven by an unquenchable thirst and enthusiasm for not just learning but for also putting my knowledge to the test through practical application and figuring out ways to make it even more effective. Each morning I wake up feeling so lucky that I get to help people better understand their bodies through solving problems and removing obstacles that may be preventing them from living their best life.

Prior to starting ALTA Health + Performance, I worked at the Apple Wellness Center at Headquarters in Cupertino. I also worked at a renowned Sports Rehabilitation Chiropractic Clinic in the Silicon Valley. My style is heavily influenced by Dr. Andreo Spina’s Functional Range Conditioning and Physiotherapist Pavel Kolar’s Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization Principles. I am also fascinated by the intricacies of gut health and how it is expressed through the rest of the body.

When not at ALTA, I am mostly known for my love of mountain biking, resistance training, adventure seeking, road-trips, podcasts, horses, wood-fired pizza and coffee!

My passion is to help you better understand your body and its movement patterns in order to get you living your ideal lifestyle! I find the more you know as a patient, the more effectively we can work together to overcome aches, pain, dysfunction or whatever else that may be holding you back.
